The barred owl is one of only four species of owls in the
U.S. with dark eyes (the others are the barn, flammulated, and
spotted owls). The rest have yellow eyes. The barred owl
is sometimes said to have a southern accent because of its call:
"who-cooks-for-you, who-cooks-for-you-ALL." Often it can be
heard and seen in the late afternoon. |
